Why do you want to road trip the States?

But doesn't it cost too much? 
I've sat down and calculated it all, and it ends up about $50,000 per year, but you can make do with $30,000 if you have a more modern car (dat Mustang gas mileage). Some people think it's somewhere in the high millions but nope. Considering you have no gas, water, rent or mortgage to pay, it's quite cheap.

How are you saving up (and for how long)?
I write books, and basically use my other hobbies for money. Drawing, etc. Been saving up for about 4 months, and I have anywhere between 2 - 5 years to save up.

But traveling the back roads of America is dangerous! 
Yeah, I know. So I do martial arts, keep twenty cans of pepper spray, have that rape-alarm thingy, and I'll buy a gun when I start traveling. I also keep my fitness up so I can run whenever in a dangerous situation.
